SLD Functionality Verification Slip: Full Guide | PasangSLD

Updated: July 2026 · Official source: JPJ portal
The SLD Functionality Verification Slip is official proof your speed limitation device works — 90 km/h cap, 85 km/h warning, per UN R89. Without the slip, proving compliance during a PUSPAKOM inspection gets difficult. Who issues it, how long it stays valid, what to do if it goes missing — all answered here.
1. What Is the SLD Functionality Verification Slip?
It is not an 'installation slip' — it is proof the device was tested and actually works after installation or activation. This document is the main reference during enforcement checks and PUSPAKOM inspections.
Takeaway: never leave the workshop without the slip in hand after every installation or test.
2. Who Issues It & Which Vehicles Are Covered
The slip is issued by the workshop or supplier that runs the functionality test — JPJ publishes the official supplier list on its website. To be transparent: PasangSLD is not on that list; we are the arranger who coordinates your installation and slip paperwork with JPJ-recognised workshops.
Vehicle scope: — Goods lorries above 3,500 kg — Express, tour, factory & school buses — Prime movers & trailers
Takeaway: confirm your vehicle category first, then pick your installation channel.

3. When You Need the Slip — By Phase
1. Phase 1 — 1 Oct 2025: 2015-and-newer vehicles verify functionality 2. Phase 2 — 1 Jan 2026: pre-2015, ECU activation 3. Phase 3 — 1 Jul 2026: pre-2015, retrofit — full enforcement deferred (grace period)
JPJ has issued Section 114 investigation notices (8,924 between Oct 2025 and Mar 2026), not blanket compounds. Compliance as of Mar 2026 is only around 15%.
Takeaway: match your vehicle's year to its phase and get the slip well ahead of your inspection date.
4. Valid 2 Years — Checked at PUSPAKOM
The slip is valid for 2 years from the issue date, then must be renewed through a re-test. During PUSPAKOM inspections, this slip is among the documents checked.
One thing we must be honest about: the slip is not an automatic guarantee of passing PUSPAKOM — the device must still be working during the actual inspection.
Takeaway: align your slip renewal date with your PUSPAKOM schedule so both stay valid at all times.
5. Lost Your Slip? Here's What to Do
— Contact the issuing workshop — most keep test records — Workshop unreachable? Check JPJ's official website for replacement guidance — Prevent a repeat: keep the original slip in your vehicle file + a digital copy + note the workshop name and date
Cost context: full installation on the market runs RM400–600 (advertised) up to RM1,700–2,500 (actual quotes). WhatsApp us to arrange installation or verification with a JPJ-recognised workshop.
Takeaway: snap a photo of your slip today — 30 seconds now saves days later.

FAQ
How long is the SLD Functionality Verification Slip valid?+
The slip is valid for 2 years from the issue date and must be renewed after that. It is checked during PUSPAKOM inspections, so record the expiry date and renew early so you are never caught out.
Who can issue this slip?+
JPJ-recognised workshops or suppliers issue the slip after a functionality test. JPJ publishes the official supplier list on its website. PasangSLD is not on that list — we are the arranger who coordinates your installation with JPJ-recognised workshops.
Does the slip guarantee a PUSPAKOM pass?+
No. The slip is proof of functionality on the test date, but the device must still be working during the actual inspection. Nobody can guarantee a pass — keep your SLD maintained and make sure the slip is still within its validity period.
I lost my slip — do I need to reinstall the SLD?+
Usually not. Contact the workshop that issued the slip for a copy or re-verification from their records. For the latest official guidance on document replacement, check JPJ's official website.
